ENTRY WAY REMODEL-WEEK 2

ENTRY WAY REMODEL-WEEK 2

Welcome back!!!  If you haven’t had a chance to read my WEEK 1 post you can find it here.  I left off with showing different styles of Board and Batten on stairways.  Below is an example of what I’m planning to do.

Prepping

The first thing I did was prime up to the window above the door.   When I painted this entire entry last year it was a beast! I told myself “THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS GOING TO PUT MYSELF THROUGH THAT AGAIN!!!!!”  My plan is to paint 3/4 white on the board and batten and leave the other 1/4 as it is.

Envisioning how this would look was hard for me to do.  I enlisted the advice of a decor group I belong to and one member was kind enough to sketch this up for me.  Once I saw it then I knew how I was going to make it all come together, with one minor tweak.   I would move that bottom horizontal line you see crossing over the banister up so it just extended from the top of the trim leading into the living room.

MY ONE ROOM CHALLENGE-ENTRY WAY REMODEL-WEEK 2

Envisioning it was hard for me to do, so I enlisted the advice of a decor group I belong to and one member was kind enough to sketch this up real quick on her phone for me.  Once I saw it then I knew how I was going to make it all come together.

There are two reasons I chose to set the Board and Batten so high and go straight across the wall vs. going up the wall angled like in the pic below.  #1 is because once you got to the landing it would pretty much end where the landing meets the stairs to head up to the right. I wanted it to go all the way up the stairs to the right. #2 I feel it has more of a “WOW” factor covering the majority of the wall.

I headed to Lowes and picked up all the materials I need to get started.

Make sure to check back next week to see the progress I’ve made.
